"Deny yourself, take up the cross and follow me..."

Yesterday met with a friend and she openly told me she likes women! Has been my suspicion but also knew she was fighting it so we never addressed her tendencies before. Yesterday her "owning up" left me a bit "speechless" actually...

But in a subtle manner, I did tell her this is not God's "intended order of things". She herself has been searching the bible and asking what is "unnatural"... Told her it is "all in the mind" and told her the bible warns us that "our heart is deceitful"....

She said God is humorous...brought her back to church through a woman whom she "admires" and met in a gay church in Aljunied....Never knew there is really such a gay church ...it is called "Free Community" and the pastor is sympathetic...

The irony is that recently she also met a Canadian guy and has been going out with him and 2 weeks ago he asked her to be his girlfriend. She struggled and decided in the end if she accepts him she will end up hating herself in futire so she decided to tell him eventually she likes women and he was very amused....

Oh my....after an afternoon and evening of digestion, my conclusion of the matter is even if her tendencies are real, she has to continue to fight it...deny herself the opportunity to indulge in it or face it....the Christian walk is about self-denial, take up the cross and follow him....Noone ever said it was easy...

Denying yourself, constant renewal of the carnal mind, circumcision of the deceitful heart - such is the Christian walk...
