Christian Destiny

My husband always says I over-spiritualise everything. Seow Yen said yesterday too she is trying to recover the "human side" of her - i wonder if she means to be more humanistic in her thinking...not to over-spiritualise things? So what kind of Christian spirituality should we have?

For instance, what are we to make out of the saying "fulfil your destiny in Christ"? Do we really have an individual destiny in Christ? Is our destiny basically refering to our ultimate destination in heaven? Are we over-spiritualising when we insist God has an ultimate individual and separate destiny for each of us, something significiant and unique that He has for each and everyone of us to do? Should we waste our life pursuing that seemingly elusive destiny that He has for us?

While there is a real danger of 'over-spiritualising everything', I believe also one of the great deceptions pulled off by the evil one is to convince Christians that God does not have specific calling and purpose for their lives. Hence while we should avoid being so heavenly-minded that we have no earthly use, we should also not be so earthly-minded that we have no heavenly use.

2Peter 1:10-11 : Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
